Does anyone know how long the life cycle is for MR (Financial Reporter) in D365 F&O?  on prem appears to be 2028.

I have the same question (0)

MR is part of D365FO, therefore I think it will exist as long as F&O itself. Normally MS guarantees to support new products at least 10 years from the release date.

Thank you for the reply.  Will Microsoft be enhancing it at all?  I don't see any improvements to the functionality and actually loss of some of the old MR functionality.

    Thank you

I assume it will get new features. Generally you can see the D365 Finance roadmap here: docs.microsoft.com/.../planned-features

    Hello feilecpa,

Where do you have this information about 2028 from?

    Never heard that before.

Would be great if you could share.

    Many thanks,

    Ludwig

    Hi feilecpa,

    Many thanks.

That is actually a private blog post and refers to Management Reporter AX2012.

This 'old' Management Reporter has been replaced by the financial report designer in D365FO, which is very similar to the 'old' Management Reporter but still different in terms of functionality, integration and lifecycle.

I would recommend not having a look at the old AX stuff as it does not apply do D365FO especially when it comes to the "Management Reporter"

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hello

Yes, I know...I was a GP reseller, as this sunset also applies to Dynamics GP.  My hope is to understand FRD, which is MR but without all of the same functionality.  It would be nice to be able to pull unposted GL items in FRD...I am just trying to get a grasp on what the goal is for this reporting tool vs go another way as many other 365 users are doing.

    Hello feilecpa,

I don't have any insights into what MS plans in regards to those unposted transactions in the financial reporter.

Yet, I noticed a newly released feature.

    Please see:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../trial-balance-report-transactional-detail-unposted-gl-transactions

It is not related to the financial reporter but it seems to be related to what you mentioned.

Maybe that new feature can be used as a supportive report / workaround?!

Alternatively, we always have PowerBI and/or electronic reporting based reports available.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
