Post BOM Journal: what is processed?

When we create a BOM Journal and post. Of course we will follow the instructions like: in the LINES form, click Report As finished. Does this mean: after posting the inventory of this finished products will increase AND THE BOM COMPONENTS OF THIS PRODUCTS WILL BE DEDUCTED/DECREASED AUTOMATICALLY. And that this is to be used when we have no Production Module.

Thank you so much for your help!

Regards,

Binh, Phan

    Hi VNPEACE,

Your assumption is correct. This is a "simple" production module. But it is also possible to use this even if you use the production module. The reason for using this journal is simple process, no planning, no routes.

    Thank you Andre!

You preview me the way to do a SIMPLE Production Module first, no planning, no routes... So I imagine that: in order to do a "simple production module" I also can do the following:

    - create BOM

    - using Production Order

    - start production order (no need planning for resource, capacity), just work with Production Order

    - when finished, change the status of the production order as FINISHED, then END

    - then the finishned product will be processed automatically: increase inventory, decrease its BOM components.

    Is this right?

The END does not post everything - there are parameters at start, there are parameters at Report as Finished, so it is a step more complicated but you can approach it very simply, not sure you can do it all from the END step though.

BOM Journal is also used as a kitting solution for some businesses.

    Thank you!

    So I will:

    - Create Production Order

    - Release, start producing order (no need planning for resource, capacity), just work with Production Order

    - when finished, change the status of the production order as FINISHED, then END

    - then from the Production Order, receive into the warehouse.

BOM: I will setup later, just start like this for the begining and learning. Is this ok?

You can set the BOM up later, but if you set it up in advance it is in the production order and creates the picking journal.

I suggest you look at the start parameters - in addition when you set the status to Report as Finished it will receive the stock into the warehouse. End is just for cost flushing and WIP correction.

It is fine to start learning there yes :-)

    Thank you Weaveriski!

I will start with this simple steps, the goad is create the Production Order, then finish and receive into the warehouse, that's all we need now. I will study step by step and will ask for your help for sure :-).

    Dear Weaveriski,

With this simple process: Production Order ==> Release ==> Start ==> Report as Finished ==> End. Can I put Bar code scanner at "Report as Finished"?

Well you can put a barcode scanner there, it depends what you want to capture and the interface with the scanner - so for example is it to scan the batch/serial ID into the registration or is it to scan in the finished product serial number or is it to reference the works order and also push the RAF from the scanner.
