Hi,
I believe the most appropriate way of tagging the Vendor as Diverse is to use "Dimension". You can create a Dimension, let's say Diverse Vendor and can have the same as Dimension value. Also, as you are using dimension you can have multiple dimension values if you wanna further categorize your Vendor Diversity type.
It's not suggested to go for customization for every small requirement.
