MR2012 and Port 4712

Currently have Management Reporter Installed and want to install MR2012 on Production, was told that I would have to have another port to point MR 2012 to so that I could have both running.  That I could not point to 4712 twice off the same Terminal Server installation.  I do have two databases that I am pointing to.  Management Reporter and another MR2012.  Now comes my dba who is telling me that port 4712 does not show as being an open port anyplace and he doesn't understand how I need a new port.  Btw, still can only have one MR working at a time with the one port.  How do I explain that to him.

So are you saying that you want MR 2.0 and MR 2012 running side-by-side on the same server?

My recommendation is to upgrade any prior version of MR to MR 2012 RU7.  There are so many enhancements and awesome features with MR 2012, there is little to compare.  I personally don't see value in running a side by side.  MR 2012 uses port 4712 by default.  Though it can be changed, seems most use the default.  For MR 2.x, an IIS web site is used which I believe any port could be used.  Default IIS site if installed to uses port 80.  However, that can be changed as well.

    Mario:

Basically have two different databases and once we went to RU2 for MR2012 needed to have two ports.  But IT is saying that they don't want to open another port because as it is they can't see where 4712 is running.  Other issue is on conversion of multicurrency and my understanding is that they still haven't come up with a final solution for Dynamics GP and you have to continue to run it in Legacy and can't go beyond RU2 without having issues.

So, there are a lot of multicurrency customers who are stuck on RU2 roll out.
