Exporting to Excel Doesn't Prompt to Save or Open

Posted on by 7

Hi,

When exporting to Excel form Microsoft Dynamics NAV or BC on premises it doesn't show a dialog box prompting to save or open the excel file. It opens directly.

How ccan i have the dialog box to chosse to Save the Excel File instead of automatically have the file opened?

I've checked the personalization file to see if there is a tag saying that the esport should always open the file. There is no such entry in the personalization file.

This only hapens with Excel. If I export to word the dialog box shows and I can save the file before it opens.

Can anyone help?

Thank you!

    HI,

    How do you make the prompt to save or open appear in the windows client, if it no longer prompts (just opens in excel automatically)?

    I've found this:

    <PersonalizationObject
      PersonalizationObjectId="FileDialogProvider.DoNotAskBeforeOpeningFileType">
        <Data>AAE.....wCw==</Data>
    </PersonalizationObject>

    So may be, you should try to delete this entry from the PersonalizationStore.xml in order to restore the Open/Save-Dialog.
    There may be similar entries for other file types (Word,...)

    Hi,

    Try to deactivate Microsoft Dynamics Add-in on excel:

    • Open Excel;
    • File > Options >  Add-Ins > Active Application Add-ins > select Microsoft Dynamics Add-in line;
    • In the field "Manage", select option 'COM add-ins' and press "GO";
    • Deactivate Microsoft Dynamics Add-In, and press OK;

    After the following steps, try again exporting data to excel.

    Hi, are you using Web Client?

    In windows client, you can select open or save this file.

    In web client, this depends on the browser settings.

    For example, chrome:

    Hope this will help.

    Thanks.
