Synchronization of contacts between CRM and Outlook using Server Side Sync

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello Community,

I activated the Server Side Sync (CRM365 V8.2 on premise, Outlook 2013, no CRM Plugin installed), after setting up the sync rules contacts got synced. Now I find contacts with a business card icon and some with the typical CRM icon (blue and green man). Now my questions:

- Once I open a contact document, the CRM icon turns into the business card icon without saving anything. How can I distinguish if the contact comes by sync or has originally been created in Outlook?

- Is there a manual or description of how the sync works (e.g. if sync is turned off/which system is the master of a synced contact/will the contact synced again if deleted in Outlook/...?)

Thanks in advance for your answers.
Cheers
Martin

RE: Synchronization of contacts between CRM and Outlook using Server Side Sync

    Hi Martin,

You can set up sync but I think there is no way to track outlook and crm contact origin by default. Which might be you can achieve using a extra flag field in contact entity and update targeted field while creating contact in CRM using outlook. And update field using workflow.

Please refer this to understand sync process -

Hope this helps. Please verify my answer!!

    Thanks,

    Sandeep
