Unable to pick by Bin Ranking with directed put-away pick disabled?

I have disabled "directed put-away and pick" on our main warehouse location as I needed to disable "require receive".

Anyway after doing so the warehouse seems to only want to pick what looks to be alphabetically from sales orders?

  • P1.B1.3C2 (Bulk Zone: Rank=20) (Bin Rank=60)
  • P1.B1.5C2 (Bulk Zone: Rank=20) (Bin Rank=60)
  • P1.E1.2A1 (Pick Zone: Rank=30) (Bin Rank=100)
  • P1.F1.2A2 (Pick Zone: Rank=30) (Bin Rank=100)

So based on that and how it worked before it should pick from one of the bottom 2 bins as they are both in a higher zone and carry a higher bin rank.

So on the shipment when I create the pick I select "Bin Ranking" however it selects the bin P1.B1.3C2 - this makes no sense?

    So I have done a bit more looking into this and have found this useful post relating to Nav which follows the same principles.

    The changes I have made is the alphabetical layout of the zones as I was thinking as "Bulk" is before "Pick" it might be defaulting to the "Bulk" location and then sorting on Bin Ranking however this was wrong as I changed these to be "A-Pick" and "B-Bulk" and still the same issue, Business Central seems to want to pick alphabetical on Bin regardless of what zone it is in or the ranking of the zone or bin

    Obviously changing all of the labels in the whole warehouse to be alphabetical is a huge task, so I think I will have to turn back on the "Directed Put-Away Pick" back on as this seems to be the only setting that follows bin ranking?

    After a discussion with Tasklet (who do a warehousing plugin for Business Central) they informed me this was due to the bin raking getting added to the pick line.

    So basically if you have "Directed put-away picks" enabled it adds the bin rank to the pick line. If you disable this it does not pass this information through.

    Really frustrating as we need it disabled for receiving goods but enabled for shipping goods!
