We import all of our sales orders in via Integration Manager. Every now and then, it happened today, the SOP transaction entry screen freezes. When I say freezes, this is what happens. All orders come over with the order quantity put in the B/O quantity column. Most lines are commited to a PO so the PO's get received the lines on the sales order get allocated and fuffilled. Occasionaly some lines are not committed to a PO and the user manually zero out the B/O quantity and places the quantity in the Qty Invoice field. You get the little yellow triangle and you simply click on Allocate and Fulfill and you are all set. Occasionally 2 or 3 times a year, when the user zeroes out the B/O quantity as soon as you move off the field the entire screen and GP just freezes. The only recourse on the workstation is to kill Dynamics in Task Manager and since this order had to get pushed through immediately the fix was to stop and start SQL on the server. Now obviously there is a SQL lock someplace but where and how to find it? Running SQL Profiler simply shows me where it stops. I already know that. When this does happen it is only on orders with 100+ lines. They process about 50 orders a day and it is good that this happens so infrequently but does anyone have any ideas how I can find where the lock is and free it with having to stop and start SQL? I did all the usually cleanup first by clearing the DEX_LOCK and DEX_SESSION tables. I even had everyone log out of GP. Something in SQL has put a lock on some records and/or tables and will not let go.
