Obviously from the title i've done something extremely stupid.

Instead of disabling accounts i've been deleting them from the SBS.

I'm currently left with one user who has system admin privileges but this user has no account on the SBS anymore, i've tried recreating the user account but i get invalid user authentication.

Really stuck here so i'll take any suggestions you've got.

Regards

Can't you give system administrator role to an other CRM user?

    Hi Reece,

Been there before, in our case we deleted the user from CRM and that was the only user with Sys admin role.

    Check out this link inogic.blogspot.com/.../lost-only-system-administrator-user.html

Note, the steps here are certainly unsupported but as a last resort to recover the application, this was what we had done...

@Erman - No as i don't have a user with the system administrator role that i can access none of my users have authentication to give someone else or themselves such administrative rights.

@Sam - I tried something like this last week to no effect - I'll give your walkthrough a go though hopefully it will work, here's hoping

Also sorry for the late replies - i thought i had email alerts set - apparently not.

Sam - Using principles from your tutorial and the following tutorial (praphullaparab.wordpress.com/.../dynamics-crm-4-add-a-deployment-administrator-using-sql) - I managed to crack it and add myself back as a system administrator.

I logged on to the CRM and went to the user who's account no longer existed (They still had the system administrator Role) and copied the GUID from the bar at the top.

Instead of going to the MSCRM_CONFIG database as said in their tutorial i went to the main database (DEPLOYMENTNAME_MSCRM) - I then ran the following query:

SELECT * FROM SystemUserRoles WHERE SystemUserId = 'CRM GUID' - because the only role the user had was system administrator I noted down the role id.

Next i went back on the CRM and to my user account and copied my user id so i could make myself administrator - then i ran the following.

Update SystemUserRoles Set RoleID='INSERT YOUR SYS ADMIN ROLEID' where SystemUserRoldID='MY GUID FROM CRM'

You should probably add other attributes if the user has more than one role associated with is as Sam does in his blog posting but this worked fine for me.

So Thanks Sam and Hope this helps others solve the problem.
