How to link the Opportunity to the Opportunity Product?

I created an Opportunity lookup field to the Opportunity Product form, but it is NOT populating the opportunity record. This worked fine when i did it for Order Products to Order lookup. Why is this failing?

    Hey,

there is an out-of-the-box Opportunity lookup on the opportunity product..

I'm just curious why do you need another one?

Also, when/where is it not populating?

I created a new Lookup field because there is no way to add the OOB Opportunity field to the Opportunity Product form (it does not show up in the Field Explorer). The opportunity is not populating at all on the opportunity product form, when it should upon create.

Interesting - I can see it in 365 and, it seems, I can add it to the form.

Short of creating a plugin, can't suggest anything else..

That field does not show up in the workflows/business rules either. As for the mapping - I think it has something to do with how it's implemented.. when you click "+", it does not bring up an opportunity product form - it just adds a line to the products subgrid. That's, likely, an out-of-the-box javascript that's bypassing entity mapping.

Try changing the view for the opportunity products subgrid - instead of editable grid, use all opportunity products. It seems to work that way, but it's a different user experience

I tried this and still nothing in the Opportunity lookup field I created. This is so strange because I was able to do this for Order Products without any problems.
