Restrict allowed Activity Types

Posted on by 15

I have found an Option Set "Activity Types" which contains - you guessed it - all the activity types which can be created in the Timeline.  Unfortunately it is not customisable.  Is there any way to make it so?

I'm sure that will work but I prefer the suggestion below

Sorry I was just told I had reported this post - didn't mean to

That works perfectly - just hoep client will accept using the timeline view instead of the activity list.  I like it!

    Hi partner,

We will customize the activity types of timeline in the form editor.

Go to Customizations > select an entity and edit the main form, double-click the timeline.

Under Activities tab, select Show selected, and hold down the Ctrl key to select the type of activity you want to be able to create in the timeline.

    Save and publish.

The side effect of this solution is that only the selected activity type is displayed in the timeline.

    Hi,

    Please refer to https://powerobjects.com/2020/03/11/what-to-do-with-unwanted-activity-types-in-dynamics-crm/

You can develop an onload JavaScript web resource to selectively hide or remove unwanted activity types. In this case, whenever a user navigates to the list of activity types, the selected types don't display at all.

Code would look like - https://mylearnings26.wordpress.com/2018/07/10/how-to-hide-option-set-values-in-ms-crm-using-javascript/ -Be aware, if it is for V9 , you will need to use the new client side API.

    Thanks
