CRM Notes - Someone is modifying other peoples notes

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi, I know that someone at work is modifying my notes in CRM, because he is know listed as the owner of a note that is clearly mine. I would like to know if it is possible to see the note I wrote before he modified it, a bit like a history of the note. Our notes are not locked yet so that only the person who created it can modify it, if someone knows how to make that change as well it would be great ! Thanks!

Hi, sorry it has been a while!

I tried to go into the security role put the ''write'' on user only. However that did not work because people who were part of the team *connection category team) could still modify the notes of other people as long as they were listed in that team.

I need to find out how to make it so that only the person who creates the note can modify it but i cant find out how to do it.

    Can you help me out?

    Hi,

it's not necessarily that they are modifying your notes. Usually, there is a parental relationship in DYnamics between the notes and entities they are linked to, so if the parent entity is re-assigned, notes will be re-assigned, too. In which case you'll see them as having been modified by the user who re-assigned the "parent" record.

As for the history - no, you can't see that unless you have audit enabled in CRM (and, also, you need to have permissions to see the audit logs.. that's in case you are not a sys admin)
