Solution compatibility between 365 and 2015

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello,

I have build a solution using Dynamics 365 online. I who would like to install it on 2015 (version 7.0). I'm mostly using the Javascript SDK and web forms to enrich leads / accounts entities.

According to the version compatibility table, it's not compatible out of the box:

https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg334576.aspx#Anchor_2

Can anyone tell me what it would take to get it to work on Dynamics 2015?

Thank you

Vincent

    Hi Vincent,

There is no supported method to export a solution from Dynamics 365 and import it into CRM 2015.

Your best bet would be manually recreating as much of the solution as you can in the CRM 2015 instance. Alternatively, upgrade the CRM 2015 instance to Dynamics 365 to make the transfer of the solution easy.

It's not possible, you have to create your solution in CRM 2015 and create there all your webresources/plugins

    Hi Vincent,

Technically solutions are meant to be upgraded not downgraded.

I am not sure if there is a way to do this, but you can refer to the following article.

    msdn.microsoft.com/.../dn689055.aspx

You might be able to do it from code by using the ExportSolutionRequest/Response, but I don't think so.

If it doesn't work, you will have to recreate the solution in 2015.

You are probably not going to be required to make any code modifications (based on your solution components).

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Vincent,

I think it is not possible to install a solution on a downgraded (lower version) environment

which is lower than the current major version.

I would be happy to get a positive answer on this.

    Many thanks,
