D365 file download issue after Chrome 72 update - file names are enclosed inside single quotes

All,

Just a heads-up to D365 community forum members - After chrome browser update to 72.0.3626.81, files downloaded from Chrome have single quotes around files like ‘MyAttachment.pdf’. Due to this issue you will not be able open downloaded file. However, after removing quotes manually from the download file you will be able to open them properly.

 

We are looking at this issue on D365 side to have a proper fix in place but meanwhile as a workaround remove single quotes from downloaded file and then open them or use other browsers like Edge or older version of Google Chrome.

    Thank you. Do you have an ETA for a fix for this (you mentioned you were looking at the issue from a D365 perspective). I understand from the Chromium team that their change is in order to make their browser 'compliant' with standards and if so then D365 would need to be changed also?

    In addition to Alex's rewrite rule he posted, this one was also posted below it. I think it may be a better one to use (not to take anything away from Alex's solution, thank you very much for your help Alex!). It looks for the filename= pattern instead of only working on the Attachment/Download.aspx URL (may very well be the only place that is affected though).

    This is getting fixed in Dynamics v9.1 online and v8.2 online version for Email->Attachment download scenario soon and other download scenarios will also be addressed in phased manner.  

    btw, please also make request to Chromium team at bugs.chromium.org/.../detail ("Issue 927366: Downloads from Dynamics CRM Instance are saved with quotes") to help provide some elective flag for old behavior until various download scenarios are fixed in Dynamics CRM.  Meanwhile please use alternate browsers to workaround this problem.

    My clever colleague has created an extension for Chrome that basically renames the files to remove both the leading and trailing quotes when downloading files:

    chrome.google.com/.../ooddnpkpabbgcliomlijjfolcbjdhgkk

    Do we have an ETA on the fix for this? We have quite a few customers using Chrome and we as an ISV also heavily use Chrome for most of our development work. I really hope a hot-fix will be pushed soon.
