Installation on Windows Server 2016 w. SQL 2016 - AOS is missing folders

Hi

I am trying to install AX2012 CU12 on a Windows Server 2016 w. SQL 2016. This is all installed on one server for testing. I have only installed the databases and trying to install the AOS. The installation goes fine and I cannot see any errors in the Setup log file, but I am unable to start the AOS. I get the following 2 errors:

Object Server 01 : The directory "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics AX\60\Server\MicrosoftDynamicsAX\Bin\Application\bin" does not exist or access to it has been denied by the operating system.

Object Server 01 : The home directory for Axapta (C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics AX\60\Server\MicrosoftDynamicsAX\Bin\Application\bin\Application") does not match the required structure or can  not be accessed.

If I look in the folder C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics AX\60\Server\MicrosoftDynamicsAX\Bin\Application I can see that the "\bin", "\share\config", "appl\Standard", "\appl\Standard\db" and "appl\Standard\tmp" is missing. If I create these folders the AOS can start and is working. But why cant it do this during installation?

    Hello Thomasbr,

Great troubleshooting by the way! This is just as the error stats an access issue. You are obviously using an account that has admin right on the server. This is why you were able to install the application. However, if you don't right click the .exe and run as admin you can get errors like this. Do you recall if you ran the .exe as admin?

    Hi Boris

Yes I did try both with an without right click the setup.exe file when running the installation, but no difference.

Would it help if  I create a new account for the AOS? This is only a test installation to test Win2016 and SQL2016, I know we should use a different account when setting up a real environment.

If you are referring to the AOS service account, I personally wouldn't use a deferent account. Main reason is when you do a refresh from Prod to Test later. You will have SID issues and will have to run an additional SQL query to fix that. I don't believe a deferent account will help in this case. However, it doesn't hurt to try. Another thing to check is, make sure you have the exceptions in place for those folders on your Antivirus software. That might be blocking the program from writing to those folders.

    Hi

I will try with another account, but the whole part with moving from Test to PROD, at this point we will use a whole new set of accounts, this is just for test installation :-)

Currently we have no antivirus on this server, so that is not the issue.

Sounds good, Keep us posted on weather or not the new account resolved the issue.
