Bulk deletion: entered the right criteria but nothing is being deleted

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi all,

I am trying to do a bulk deletion but when I look at the deletion records it isn't coming up as having deleted anything. I have also looked at the list of contacts and the contacts I want to delete haven't been deleted and I am wondering why this is the case. Below are the steps I have taken:

1. 43843362.Capture.PNG

2. 6685.Capture-2.PNG(with the emails on the right)

3. 1588.Capture-3.PNGI then clicked 'next' at the bottom

4. Capture-4.PNGI then clicked 'submit' at the bottom.

5. I then go to the Bulk Record Deletion list, and there no failures. Yet, no contacts have been deleted.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Josh

    Hi,

You can try the Preview Records button available in the screen? This will display you the records returned by the selected criteria. The bulk Deletion is performed using a background system job so it may take some time however you can see the system job in the list with the status and the records which are already deleted.

    Hope this helps.

You can validate same condition using advanced find to make sure the data which you want to delete are correct or not  if you still have any doubt.

Yes it will be  quicker way if   you select Group OR. It's means contacts having those emails will be deleted.

How many data you have? You can also do with single condition. But both will do the same.

    Hi Goutam,

FYI: all of the contacts I want to delete have different emails. So I am having to enter each email individually to bulk delete all of the contacts. Is there a quicker way of doing this?

Also, I have clicked on Group OR but I don’t know what you mean by clicking on each arrow one by one?

    Thanks

    Josh

    Hi ,

When you set email equals with multiple condition which means that those condition are merge with Group AND operation by default instead of Group OR. Which means it's searches with different emails for single contact and could not find any contacts to delete.

So select each condition by clicking down arrow one by one  and then click on "Group OR" So that deletion operation will retrieve all contacts those having  the same emails in belongs to all the condition.
