Relating an Entity within an Entity

Good afternoon all,

I'm having a brain lapse moment.

Is there a way to relate an entity within another custom entity... i.e. is there a way of creating a sub-grid to see leads relating to a client within an Account Planning custom entity?

Hi,

not in the supported way. Unsupported might work similar to this:

community.dynamics.com/.../221757

But you never know when it stops working..

Out of the box, you might try using a quick view form(quick view for the "client" where you'll add leads subgrid.. and, then, you can put that quick view on the account planning form)

Hello,

As far as I know you can't show records that are related to a related record in subgrids. The records shown in a subgrid must have a direct relationship to the entity on which they are shown.

What you can do, however, is set up a custom field on the Lead entity and build a workflow that links the lead directly to the Account's Account Plan, thus allowing you to show all leads related to the Account.

Come to think of it, a calculated field would do just fine.

This is given that an Account only has one Account Plan. If the relationship is 1:N or N:N from Account to Account Plan, it quickly becomes more troublesome.
