Start Production with the Start Production Toggle set to NO

Hello D365 Experts,

When starting a batch order, there is a toggle under the general tab noted as 'start production'.  One can start a batch order with the toggle set to NO and also to YES.

Is there any information in regards to the consequences of using the toggle to YES or NO?

A batch order can be executed regardless of the setting position, but would like to get more insight on this setting.

Thank for any help on this topic.

    hi

The "Start Production" toggle in the general tab of a batch order in Dynamics 365 allows you to control when the batch order is considered to be "started".

If the toggle is set to "No", the batch order will be created, but production operations will not be automatically scheduled until you manually start the batch order by selecting the "Start" action. This can be useful if you want to create a batch order in advance of production and then schedule it to start later.

If the toggle is set to "Yes", the batch order will be created and production operations will be automatically scheduled to start immediately upon release of the batch order. This can be useful if you want to start production immediately upon creating the batch order.

In terms of consequences, the main difference between the two settings is the timing of when production operations are scheduled to start. If the toggle is set to "No", you will need to manually start the batch order at the appropriate time, whereas if it is set to "Yes", production operations will start immediately upon release of the batch order.

In either case, the batch order can be executed and completed regardless of the setting position. The "Start Production" toggle is simply a way to control the timing of when production operations are scheduled to start.

Thank you for the response. I does clarify the use of the toggle.
