CRUD operations in plugins

Hi All,

I'm having a question regarding CRUD(Create, Read, Update, Delete) operations in plugins. My question is the following:

When you Create/Update/Retrieve/Delete a record in a plugin(Hence, CRUD operation in code), does that process triggers plugins related to the corresponding message? For example, let's say that I retrieve an Account with a service.Retrieve() and I have 4 plugins related to the Account retrieving message. Does that retrieve triggers those 4 plugins?

Thanks in advance.

Regards.

    Thanks for the reply guys!

Does this also includes RetrieveMultiple functions and/or using FetchXML to retrieve records?

If you have plugin that handles RetreiveMultiple message - it will be triggered when RetrieveMultiple operation is called (from service or interface). Retreive operation will not trigger execution of plugin that handles RetreiveMultiple message.

Yes it also includes RetrieveMultiple - any plugin registered on that message will fire for fetchxml and queryexpressions. It is worth noting that you can use the context.depth property on the plugin context to determine how deep you are in the call chain.

Thanks for the help guys, my question was completely answered.

Just one final concern... fields that don't appear in a form can be updated by CRUD operations? For example, lets say that for Account I have a custom field called 'total' and that field is NOT in anyAccount form, can the code update it?

On the other hand,  can a java script function get the value of a field that is not in a form?

Sorry for asking a lot of questions, but those are concerns that I had since I started in Dynamics CRM.
