Hi all ! My on premise server using D365 FO version 10.0.4 Platform Update 28 but Test inviroment cloud using version 10.0.9 Platform Update 33. I want update for on premise server D365 FO to version 10.0.9 Platform Update 33.
I have 2 questions:
1. How to update best ?
2. Do I want to update direct from version 10.0.4 Platform Update 28 to version 10.0.9 Platform Update 33 ?
Thank you very much !
1. What do you mean by on premise server? Do you have D365FO on-premises ("local business data")? Or are you talking about some local onebox system?
On-premises systems (sandbox and prod) can be updated via LCS. Local onebox systems can be updated by downloading the update from LCS and installing it locally (docs.microsoft.com/.../install-deployable-package)
2. Yes, I guess you want to. Do you? At least you can if you want to.
You must be talking about updating your VM. You can directly go from 10.0.4 Pu 28 to 10.0.9 Pu 33. If its a cloud hosted VM in your own subscription , you can apply package through LCS . If you have downloaded VM locally then use AXUpdateInstaller.exe to install downloaded package.
Dear Sukrut Parab ,
My solution downloaded VM locally then use AXUpdateInstaller.exe to install downloaded package. if i can directly go from 10.0.4 Pu 28 to 10.0.9 Pu 33 .Are there any errors or not because I skipped some updated version.
As mentioned, you can install the latest version and you can skip updates. If you face any errors, you can post a question here, search the web or file support request for Microsoft.
Not updating to the latest version is the biggest risk in itself. If you are doing development in older version and pushing code to latest version it is a risk in itself of breaking the code.
It is best to upgrade as soon as possible. What Microsoft recommends is to Compile your code base at least every 12 months on top of the latest code base.
Also Lookout for deprecated methods and metadata element in latest version while doing coding in older version(not recommended)

Hi,
I do assume you tested the update deployment on your test environment. If you had not seen an issue during this deployment and not during regression testing, then it would be safe to also update your production environment.
Hi André Arnaud de Calavon!
I updated version PU33 but when full build models , my error
"Microsoft.Dynamics.AX.Metadata.Storage.MetadataReadException: Serialization version mismatch detect, make sure the runtime dlls are in sync with the deployed metadata. Version of file '189'. Version of dll '186'."
Are you sure you updated all components on your VM, as instructed in the documentation that I shared in my first reply?
In case it's still unclear, please check my blog, perhaps it helps: community.dynamics.com/.../issues-after-installing-binary-updates-to-local-dev-machine
for every service update (platform and application earlier) needs to be applied to all components in a single box VM
for multi tier, one just needs to do it from LCS environment screen and apply updates
