We have faced the below error when installing dynamics CRM on-premise version 9
Error| Install exception.System.Exception: Action Microsoft.Crm.Setup.Server.InstallConfigDatabaseAction failed. ---> Microsoft.Crm.CrmArgumentException: Invalid user name. Hope you are well.
This could either be missing permissions on the account running the setup, towards accessing the domain controler, or connectivity issues also to the main controler.
Please review privileges required for CRM setup:

On the above page we refer that this account needs to be a member of active directly and have organizational unit and security group creation and add membership permission to those groups in Active Directory
You also need to make sure that CRM and SQL server have connectivity to LDAP global catalog port 3268, in case this is a catalog connection issue and not privileges on AD.
