Setup Transfer Order for Advance Warehouse using Mobile Device

Hi,

I am trying to setup transfer order using advance warehousing for mobile device to achieve following:

Pick Transfer Order and register from the first warehouse using the mobile app

Receive Transfer Order and register in the second warehouse using the mobile app

Setups

Location directive: I am confuse between work order type 'Transfer Issuance' and 'Transfer Receipt'.

Is Transfer Issuance is use for picking transfer order register them in first warehouse using mobile device?

Is Transfer Receipt is use for receive and register transfer order in second warehouse using mobile device?

Work Template: Did I need to create work template for both Transfer Issuance and Transfer Receipt along with pick and put for both?

Mobile Device Menu Item: I want to create 2 menu items 'Pick Transfer Order' for users in first warehouse and 'Receive Transfer Order' for users in second warehouse.

Pick Transfer Order: Should I use current work by attaching work class of Transfer Issue?

Receive Transfer Order: Should I use transfer order line receiving and put  away?

And also advice if there is any other setup required to configure transfer order for mobile device.

Your valuable suggestions is highly appreciated. I am facing deadlines, I would be thankful if you guys take time to reply ASAP.

    Hi Scott,

Thank you for the link, it is really helpful 'Appreciated'.

I follow same setups and created transfer order (from AWMS warehouse to AWMS warehouse). However when I click release to warehouse under ship tab then, system is not generating work for Transfer Issue. Need your valuable suggestion to resolve this issue , thanks in advance.

    Hey Zeeshan

Did you get any errors when you did the release?

A couple of things to check

-were the items reserved on the transfer order? If you don’t have reservations the item won’t release.

    - is the items storage dimension an advanced warehouse storage dimension?

-I didn’t show this in the video but make sure there is a wave template setup

Otherwise let me know the error and I’ll try to help.

    Hi Scott,

    Thank you for your suggestions.

    -  I reserved item on transfer order.

    - I am using advanced warehouse storage dimension.

    - Wave template setup was missing however it is now created.

Now, I am getting following errors:

No work was created for wave XXXX-000000003. See the work creation history log for details.

Shipment XXX-000016 has been removed from wave XXXX-000000003.

Shipment XXX-000016 was not fully allocated.

    Zeeshan,

Good news you're really close :)  You'll want to go in and delete the shipment before trying to release again.   Otherwise you'll get another error.  Just go to shipment details from the transfer and delete.

The error is generally an indicator that D365 cannot find the location so there's probably something wrong with your location directive setup or your work template setup.

Here is a generally broad setup that should pick up pretty much any location.  You'll probably need to adjust for your specific scenarios, but this should be broad enough to get you going.

You'll need to create a directive code called baydoor if you don't already have one.

You'll need to create a baydoor location profile and location if you don't have one.  You'll also need to populate that Baydoor location profile in the warehouse parameters tab called location types in the box that says final shipment location type.  If you already have a location type there you can substitute a location that is assigned to that profile for baydoor.

The work template should look  something like the one below.

The on the location directives you'll need two a pick and a put they should look like below.

Raheem it was great chatting with you. It turns out that you were releasing a batch item and on the location directive you just needed to enable batch and then work was generated.

best of luck with your implementation.

    Dear Scott,

You are right, I need to enable batch on location directive (screenshot given below) and system created work on transfer order. It seems like a small issue but you have spend a lot of time to make sure that all setups is working fine. It is great pleasure and honor to get support from a senior person like you. Thank you so much.
