Microsoft Dynamics CRM (Archived)

Sharepoint List (Not doccument) integration

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport

Hi,

I have Small business server 2011 which runs sharepoint foundation and exchange. I recently added dynamics CRM to this bundle (A little cramped I know but it works, be it a little slow).

We were half using outlook BCM however I had dynamics CRM on our microsoft partner disk so I thought we should try that instead.

We use sharepoint a lot. i.e. we enter every job and customer in sharepoint lists.

I was hoping I would be able to feed jobs and accounts into sharepoint from CRM however it doesnt look like this is possible out of the box. All I can do is manage doccuments.

Am I correct there?

Also, am I being daft using dynamics crm in a company of 3 (plus contractors)? I thought it would hone or sales skills but if it is likely to confuse matters I can go back to business contact manager.

    A sample code to use lookup field will go like this:

    BusinessEntityCollection becEntityColl = null;

    if (!string.IsNullOrEmpty(_testId))

    {

       becEntityColl = CRM.QueryEntity(service, EntityName.account, new string[] { "new_ownid" }, new string[] { _testId });

       if (becEntityColl != null && becEntityColl.BusinessEntities != null && becEntityColl.BusinessEntities.Length > 0)

       {

           account acc = (account)becEntityColl.BusinessEntities[0];

           Lookup luField= new Lookup();

           luField.Value = new Guid(acc.accountid.Value.ToString());

           luField.name = acc.new_name;

           crmBusinessEntities.mpc_vakuuttaja = luField;

       }

    }

    Hi,

    how about migration instead of integrating? Export your SharePoint lists and import it in CRM.

    Regards

    Benjamin

    Thanks folks,

    I had a look at the links muhammed,

    the first one looks like what im after. It looks like its using SQL as a link between sharepoint and CRM. Is this right?

    If this is the case, why are there so many coded solutions? I want to try and avoid code if possible since I am trying to limit my time on this.

    The 2nd looks like it refers only to doccument but would still be usefull.

    Basically, as long as I know it is possible to sync data to a sharepoint list (without code) I am happy.

    Exporting and importing lists wont work I dont think unless it can be triggered automatically.

    The speed issues seem to be causing a problem now. What is the best way for me to resolve these issues? Do I need to purchase a 2nd server and run exchange and CRM separately or should I just upgrade my hardware?

    Many thanks

    For speed issues I think that the upgradation of hardware will do the needful. While for SharePoint Sync I am suggesting a new link here for you:

    Microsoft has released an updated component for SharePoint 2013 that allows you to store documents in SharePoint and relate them to CRM entities.  One of the features of CRM 2011 has been the ability to relate SharePoint document libraries to CRM data, but it was only for SharePoint 2010.  This updated component now officially supports SharePoint 2013.  This article will show you how to install and configure it.

    1. Download the SharePoint components

    Download the latest components from www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx.  This includes the solutions for both SharePoint 2010 and SharePoint 2013.  Select the appropriate version (in this case I am assuming you are using SharePoint 2013.  Run the installer to extract the files to your local file system.

    This will give you three files: AllowHtcExtn.ps1, crmlistcomponent.wsp, and mscrmsharepointeula.txt.

    Also note that the installation instructions are not included in this download - they are on the download page itself.  I recommend that you copy/paste the instructions and place them in the same location you just extracted the download file to.

    2. Enable .htc extensions

    This component makes use of legacy .htc files that are not supported by default in SharePoint.  To enable the use of .htc extensions in SharePoint, open up a powershell command line and run the AllowHtcExtn.ps1 file you extracted using your sharepoint url as the first parameter.

    3. Install the solution to your site collection

    Navigate to the site collection that you want to use as a base url for your CRM documents library.  Once you are at the correct site, click on the settings icon in the upper right corner of the site and select Site Settings.  On the site settings page, click the Solutions link under the Web Designer Galleries section.  Click Upload Solution in the ribbon, browse to the crmlistcomponent.wsp file that you extracted earlier and upload it to SharePoint.

    4. Activate the solution

    After you upload the crmlistcomponent.wsp file, click the Activate button in the ribbon to activate the component.

    Once activated you can now configure CRM to use SharePoint 2013 as a document library using the standard instructions that are available for CRM 2011.

    Unfortunately I am not using CRM online so I assume those options wont work for me.

    Thanks for the link but I think actually I dont need sync. Basically I just need to be able to send new orders from CRM to sharepoint to save doing it manually. More information will be added in sharepoint but not new orders so it doesnt realy need to be 2 way. I take it the original link "crmconsultancy.wordpress.com/.../integrating-dynamics-crm-data-into-sharepoint-2010" will do that for me?

    Is the last link you sent just for doccument sync to sharepoint or will it do lists also?

    Thanks,

    As you will see from the above referred link that The Layer2 Cloud Connector provides read/write access to CRM 2011 – on premise or online. So you can use the connector for this purpose:
