Hi Sir Ed,
SQl and database restoration is successfully now working even on connecting local HQ CLient to HQ Server. What problem now we are facing is we cant connect store outside the local area. VPN is successfully connected but socket was unsuccessfully.
We did try this, disable firewall, add UDP TCP, Adding ROles on DHCP, DNS, Remote Desktop, and VPN. But still we failed to connect our branches. Did i miss or overlook some settings on Windows Server 2012?
Thanks,
Chris
How many stores will be connecting and what is the connection schedule? Every 30 minutes, 15 mins, 5 mins... etc.
Also, are you running any addons for HQ and what kind of traffic? Transactions per day sum of all stores.
Normally for a medium to large store count, I suggest a SAS Raid or SSD Raid setup. But that depends on data traffic and number of HQ data updates.
Just remember, normally your bottleneck is the Database File IO, This puts a heavy strain on physical storage. The faster the storage the better. Also you can put your MDB file on one physical drive and your Log File on another. RAM Memory is for caching of queries, but make sure to leave enough for the OS to be responsive and operate smoothly. So limit your SQL Server memory usage.
Lastly for HQ, depending on the store and data share, make sure you have enough internet bandwidth with a quick response rate. The data is zipped prior to transmission but it will need bandwidth.
Hi Sir Ed,
We are planning to buy this unit for our HQ Server any suggestions?

Several people are having problems with HQ Admin versions after SP4 giving an activex error when opening. I have this issue currently on a Server 2012 R2 Instance. It is not a big deal since I used a pre SP4 hqadmin executable to setup the database connection.
