What does it mean if you have different publishers in CRM that may have the same prefix?
For example, I have Publisher 1 with prefix /abc/ and then I have a Publisher 2 with the same /abc/ prefix.
We have several unmanaged solutions with different publishers in our UAT environment and sometimes they share the same components, but I have no way of knowing which solution publisher the components were created under since the prefix is the same. Does this situation pose any issues when trying to consolidate these unmanaged solutions?
Just trying to understand what (if any) issues might arise when you have different publishers with the same prefix.
There have been no reports of the same publisher prefix causing errors.
But as you say, the same prefix can leave you wondering where the component belongs to.
The prefix is added to the logical name of any entities or attributes created in the context of a solution associated with this publisher, So the customization prefix helps you identify which publisher added a solution component.
