Hi All,

Issue

System requires data to be added to backend table first and then make a selection on address creation.

i have noticed that City is not mandatory whereas state/province and Country fields are?

Business Requirement

our user add/edit addresses on customer record and system is asking them to add data into backend table first

State/province is not mandatory, you can configure the address formats yourself. This discussion was about other thing: if state/province is used in the address, you must set up the master data table for states/provinces. You can't let the users type anything they want into the address itself. They can only choose from the available states. But in zip codes and cities you can let the users to enter whatever values (instead of forcing them to choose from a list that is populated from the master data setup) if you wish.

About the Polish addresses -  I don't think that it matters what exact terms are used, State/province just means a geographical/political/administrative area that is between the country and the city. You can modify the UI terms if you want to.

What about Countries that don't use State/Province?  For example, ISO-3166 lists only 13 Counties for Albania and 27 for Great Brittan.  Those countries don't use State/Province.  Then there's Poland with 16 Voivodships.  Not a State, Province nor County.  Where do we put those subdivisions?

Yes, master data for Country and State/province needs to exist in the system before users can use them in addresses.

For city and zip code you can configure whether it's required or not. Usually it makes sense to require it, otherwise users could make mistakes and set up addresses with cities and zip codes that don't exist.
