D365 Finance and Operations has a Voucher Transactions report located under General Ledger > Inquiries and Reports.

What is the best way to be able to automatically pull the data located in this report into either Excel or Access so that it can be easily refreshed at any given time?

I have the same question (0)

Create an entity for this data and then it can be exported into excel. In fact, entity can be exported periodically automatically to a database

    Hello Derek13,

    Please try the following:

    1. Open excel and select - data - get data - from other sources - odata feed

    2. Enter the URL of your machine enter a forwardslash and data. Example: ...cloudax.dynamics.com/data

    3. Connect to your machine and login

    4. Search for the data entity 'GeneralLedgerActivities' and add it to your excel document

(Note: You might also want to add the ledgers and the main account entities if you want to calculate balances over a specific period)

    5.  Select Load

    6. Design your worksheet by entering the data you want to analyze in a pivot chart.

    7. After posting new data, hit refresh in excel

Note: Refreshing the excel workbook might take long especially if you have a lot of data because all data are pushed there every time you hit refresh. What might be better is designing a PowerBI report that usually works much faster.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Thank you Ludwig.

I am able to connect to 'GeneralLedgerActivities' and begin able to join some of the data fields to other data entities.

Two issues I ran into were:

    1) When accessing the data entity 'DateGregorians' , I received the message [DataSource.Error[ OData: Requeste failed: The remote server returned an error: (400) Bad Request. (An error has occurred).

    2) A bit of research showed that this may have to do with an incompatibility issue with Excel PowerQuery. I tried connecting in Microsoft Access, but when I went to External Data > New Data Source > From Online Sources > From Dynamics 365 (online) and enter in the URL I am using to connect in Microsoft Excel, I receive the message: ' An error occured'

    Thank you again.

    Hi Derek13,

Are you using the latest Excel version or something 'old'?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

rather than opening in Excel as this is read only data anyways, would be better to use data management to export the entity 'GeneralLedgerActivities'
