Clarification on D365 FO new licensing scheme

Hi All,

With new D365 License pricing released from 1st October, we (as a CSP) are confusing and not sure how to buy D365 FO for our client. Example, we want to buy D365 FO License with minimum purchase which is 20 users in previous pricing scheme. But now, it looks like we need to buy minimum 20 users for Finance and 20 users for SCM. If this is the case, the minimum purchase to implement FO is going to increase double and I doubt most of the medium customers may not afford to buy it anymore.

Thus, kindly advice if my understand is correct and enlighten us if I am in the wrong direction.

Thanks in advance,

Regards,

Myo Sandar

    Hi Myo,

Take a look at licensing guide, if customer purchase Finance, SCM is top-up. It's not like buying 40 licenses.

You still have the 20 users minimum. Not 40.

But, if you have EA (Enterprise Agreement) the rules are different than if you buy via CSP.

Here's the latest version of the licensing guide:

Thanks Satish for your reply. But when we buy from CSP portal, it shows error that we didn't fulfill the minimum purchase. so we can't top-up to buy additional SCM as attached license.

    Hi Nikolaos,

Thanks for your reply. However, we try to subscribe via CSP portal, it doesn't allow us to do so.

And we raise Microsoft support for help and they answer us very confusing. Please kindly see the MS sales team reply from below:

How many and what kind of licenses were you trying to purchase? The 20 license minimum is there (as documented), for both Finance and Supply Chain Management. So if you want Finance, you need minimum 20 Finance licenses. And same for Supply Chain Management. If same users use both, you get the other license for much smaller price (something like 15 USD / month).

    Hi Nikolaos,

In fact, my client has very few user less than 10 but they were agreed to buy minimum 20 as per previous license scheme. Now according to new release, we are planning to buy min 20 for Supply chain users and attached 6 Finance users (30USD/mth).

That's not possible, you have the minimum of 20 for both. However this doesn't double the price since you can get SCM for quite a small price if the user already has Finance.

Compared to the old licensing model the price increase is at most 10%.

total 40 needed however as Nikolaos mentioned, price for 1st 20 would be full and next 20 would be differential/delta
