How does AX connects to SQL Server internally

Hi All,

Can anyone please explain how AX connects to SQL Server internally.

What authentication it uses - SQL Server authentication or Windows Authentication?
What SQL Server Login it uses to connect to?
If I logon using "administrator" domain user which is also a AX user having administrative rights then how AX will connect to Sql Server VERSUS if login to AX using a non-admin user (which is all a AX user having limited rights).

Please explain. Also do we have any documentation avaliable which explains this architecture in details.

In Axapta 2.5 and 3.0 rich client and AOS used SQL server authentication with user 'bmssa' and password you provided in configuration utility. Since 4.0 Axapta uses Windows AD authentication to connect AOS to DB Server. AD user, which is used to connect AOS to SSQL server, is provided for AOS windows service.
