Permission setting on item journal

I am trying to set permissions on item journal. User can create and insert data in item journal but are not allowed to post.

If I try to exclude delete permission, user is not allowed to post but now user can't delete item journal line.

Is there a way to prevent user from posting on item journal line but also able to delete the lines?

Your solution of hiding the post button works.

If you want to use permissions you can look at these two permission sets to get some ideas. Essentially, the post permission gives the user permission to insert in the G/L Entry, Item Ledger Entries, etc. which the edit permission does not.

But the problem with using permissions is that to restrict item journal posting, you need to restrict posting other things. So if the user needs to post other things, then this solution doesn't work. So this is usually done by customizing the system to add a boolean or a setting in the user setup page that is used to allow/not allow a user to post the item journal.
