unregister workflow - component cannot be deleted?

Hello - I tried to unregister a w/f assembly but the plugin registration tool failed with the following error:

"The PluginType component cannot be deleted because it is referenced by 1 other components. For a list of referenced components, use the RetrieveDependenciesForDeleteRequest."

MSDN appears to have some code that uses the request class mentioned above to get the related data:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/microsoft.crm.sdk.messages.retrievedependenciesfordeleterequest.aspx

However, it seems like something like this should be built into the plugin registration tool or maybe some other supplemental CRM tool on codeplex?  Please advise?

    Hello Andrew,

You will have to de activate the Workflow before you Unregister it.

In my experience, Guido is correct - deactivating the workflow is not sufficient to allow an assembly to be unregistered.

In addition to deactivating the workflow you must also delete the step in the workflow that refers to the assembly before un-registering it.

In other words, even a deactivated workflow will still maintain a dependency on an assembly.
