Business Central Capabilities - Multy Countries, One Sign In interface?

Posted on by 10

Hello all,

I am having a challenging time with a partner I am working with.

I want to set up 3 companies, the US (NA), France, and Germany.

I want the US to be the mother and, France and Germany to be the children.

Scenario 1) 3 tenants (US-GER-FRA)

I understand that if I want to utilize the local functionalities, I will have to open 3 tenants.

How will I be able to utilize the consolidation features between the different tenants?

How does the finance team (access to all 3 tenants) would be able to access these database?
Do we need to pay 3 times (licenses) for the people that need 3 access?

Scenario 2) 1 tenant (US) - 3 Companies (US-GER-FRA)

Will I be able to use the local functionalities for each company?

How much customization will I have to do in order to get this working properly?

This scenario is considered for the inter company transactions and consolidation features.

Which scenario would you recommend?

Thank you for your help.

Hi, As mentioned by Inge, in addition to three tenants, you can also create three production environments in one tenant. However, the basic capacity of 80G will be shared on Cloud.

More details: each additional production environment comes with three additional sandbox environments and 4 GB additional, tenant-wide database capacity.

As far as I know, only the Company Hub function is currently available, in addition to the use of APIs and Web Services, for linking between environments.

Hope this info helps as well.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

Interesting topic you raise there. This is the kind of scenario where it can be smart to have a discussion with a partner to have them assist you in this configuration.

But i will try to answer to the best of my understanding.

You can have several Business Central tenants in the same Azure AD. We have several companies running configurations like this.

But you will need one production environment for each specific localization you will run. So you have to order 3 production environments in your case.  One for US, one for France and one for Germany.

Your users will be able to access all these environments because they are all relaying on the same Azure AD.  (Assuming you have a common Azure AD for all countries today).

And as long as they all run on the same licensing model (Either essential or premium) your users should be able to access them all with out you having to by any extra user licenses. But you have to pay a fee for every extra production environment.

You can read more details about this here.

    learn.microsoft.com/.../tenant-admin-center-capacity

When it comes to inter company and consolidations you can at least do that file based if you are unable to connect the databases together.

So no customization should be needed for that unless you find out that you want to because you want to automate the process more.

There is also a thread around that here:

    community.dynamics.com/.../intercompany-between-multiple-production-environments

I hope i was able to answer some of your questions and pointing you in the right direction.
