AX2012 Migration - Issues with Axtension Kitting

I am working with a customer to migrate them from AX2012 to D365 F&O cloud. They use Axtension Kitting ISV with modifications done while ago to suit additional processes in their manufacturing. It appears these modifications are not guaranteed to work in D365 F&O cloud and as a result holding up the migration decision.

I would appreciate any thoughts on how best to navigate this problem including exploring a suitable replacement for Axtension Kitting.

Nathan Clouse  Thank you. Just leant that Axtension kitting has been discontinued for D365 F&O as MS released many standard features as part of the F&O. I am looking for any training material to understand the features better. If you know any such appreciate forwarding me the same.

    Hey Shankark,

I'll assume that the AXTension Kitting ISV product has an F&O version available. That new version for F&O should cover upgrading from AX 2012 R2/R3 for data, code and functionality. The gap that you're experiencing may be one or more of the following:

    • AXtension Changes in 2012 - your client will be responsibility for vetting and upgrading any code changes they made to AXTension in 2012 adding them as an extension in F&O.
    • AXtension data changes in 2012 - similar to the last item, any changes to the data model could require a data upgrade script. I can't speak to the data model specifically but if any table or field names have changed, you'll need an an update script for that table or field. if that name didn't change, it will upgrade automagically.
    • AXTension removed functionality in F&O- if functionality in AXTension has drastically changed or been removed, the net gap(s) there will need to be reconciled with business requirements. If required, that would be a customization the client would be responsible for.

Let me know if you have ay questions. Thanks!
