Assigning a user to a team from a different business unit

Hi everyone.

If I was a user in business unit A and was added to a team in business unit B do the security roles assigned to that team that’s in another business unit apply to me? And do I get access of the records within that business unit based on the security roles assigned to that team?

considering the two business units don’t have a child/parent relationship.

    Hi Karrar Al-Rubayee,

This depends on the record-level privilege of access you have been granted.

If some of your permissions are restricted to the local level, you can only see records for your own business unit.

This means that after you are changed to Business Unit B, you no longer have access to the data in Business Unit A unless you have a higher security privilege level.

RE: Assigning a user to a team from a different business unit

    hi

In Dynamics 365, security roles are based on the security hierarchy, which is determined by the organizational structure. Each business unit has its own security hierarchy, and security roles are assigned to users based on their position in that hierarchy.

If you are a user in Business Unit A and are added to a team in Business Unit B, you will be granted the security roles assigned to that team. However, your access to records within Business Unit B will depend on the security roles assigned to your user account in Business Unit A.

If your user account in Business Unit A has been assigned a security role that grants you access to all records in the organization, then you will have access to the records in Business Unit B based on the security roles assigned to the team. However, if your user account in Business Unit A has been assigned a security role that restricts your access to certain records, then you may not be able to access all the records in Business Unit B even if you have been added to the team and assigned the necessary security roles.

In summary, your access to records in another business unit in Dynamics 365 depends on your user account's security roles in your own business unit, as well as the security roles assigned to the team in the other business unit.
