Error on Find Database

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport

I have the following issue:

the SL client is crashing whenever i go to find database and try to pulldown de database name menu. it gives out a SQL Server message 205 error stating invalid password:

---------------------------
SQL Server Message 205
---------------------------
Invalid Password.
  Debugging info: GetNewDbProc
---------------------------
Acept
---------------------------

The curious thing is, if i log in as domain administrator, i dont get this error, however as a common local user, local administrator or network common user i get this. any clues? is something wrong with my domain/sql config?

Couple things you could try is one delete the odbc connections from your data sources ( Start / Run / odbcad32 ) then delete the app and sys databases for SL.  When you run SL again it should recreate them.

Another thing you could try is to run the the SL Database Maintenance under the update databses tab, select your system and application database and run the 'Synchronize All Ownership & Security'  job.

Does this happen for all users / workstations?

it only happens on workstations with a "normal" or local account. if i log in to windows with network admin, SL lets me choose database just find, otherwise it crashes as soon as the select db dropdown takes focus, no matter the server.

It sounds like SQL Server permissions issue.

Did this start happening after an upgrade of any sort?  or Windows Updates?

Are you using usernames and passwords or are you using the Windows authentication for your SL credentials?

For each SL user I have a corresponding SQL Server user that is automatically generated upon creation of the SL user.  I am using SL with windows authentication.

I've also had a problem before where after a windows update SL would not function and I had to contact Microsoft and they gave me a hotfix.

nope, i got the error you mentioned and fixed it with a hotfix. Im using SL users as the method to log in to SL. the funny thing is, it happened to me on a windows XP machine and a vista machine, on XP i reinstalled, installed SL from local admin, and all users now work fine. In vista ive tried installing from local admin, and only network admin can select db. i tried installing from network admin, and only he can select db. im lost here, it would seem SQL is rejecting the listing of the DBs it has, is this configurable?

    Saludos.

El usuario administrador le funciona perfectamente, pero luego entro con un usuario comun (tambien probe dandole derechos de administrador local en el dominio) daba el mismo error. the administrator user works perfectly, however, when i login to windows with a normal user (i also tried giving that user local admin rights in the domain) it gave the same error.

(el sp1 lo instalo en todos los clientes claro) - Thanks for your help, i explained myself wrong, what i meant was with the domain admin i assigned the local admin rights to the user, and it still presented problems. i havent tried the swimapi.dll part, i will try it next week and let you know how it goes! (Sp1 is installed on every client machine) - Gracias!

I got the same error. and I found the workstation (with Windows XP SP3) have Microsoft .NET Frameword 1.1, 2.0, 3.0 and all of them have chinese language pack. I uninstall all of them and reinstall Microsoft .NET Frameword 2.0 only. Then fixed this problem.

Hi I found other way to solve this problem and is very very easy... first you need to create a group on the domain and add the users that will be use dynamics SL, this group need to have access riths on the share folder. then open your sql server management studio and create a user with the name name of group, asing the server roles like public and the user mappings riths with dbo and owner. that all.
