Which Rules, Workflows, Steps - Lead to Sales process

Hi all,

In august of this year i have passed my CRM 2015 C&C exam but i recently just got started with a serious CRM project.

Now i am kind of surprised that i dont seem to have a full understanding how the standard Lead to Sales process works on a technical level.

Is there any documentation or can someone shed some light on this subject of which entities, business rules, workflows, bpf's are involved during the lead to sales process.

Based upon my current knowledge

Entities involved : Lead, Contact, Account, Opportunities

BPF: Lead to Opportunity ( 4 stages) (multi entity)

Qualify Ribbon button (Does this trigger a workflow to setup relations if contact and/or company fields are filled?)

Standard business rules active based upon required fields (i.e. user must provide customer name and topic)

Qualify: Its a plugin, which is part of the standard solution and you cannot change it.

Relationships can be both custom & system. When you qualify a lead, system relationships are created, usually termed as 'Originating lead'. if you go to leads 1:N relationship, you will find it.

Now lets say you want to create a task on lead qualification, you will have to create a new relationship between lead & task or use the 'regarding' field on task.

You will also have to create a workflow or plugin on lead qualification to create a task record.

Relationships are used to gauge the association between records

If your field is mandatory/required, you do not need a business rule to alert users that they need to fill it. Its by default.

Although, you can create business rules to make your field optional or mandatory based on a condition.
