Inventory count with sales

Posted on by Microsoft Employee
I have read a thread discussing whether RMS is able to handle inventory counts that occur while sales are being made in SO POS V2.01. I have been doing test to answer this and my initial test says "NO" but I have mixed results so I am not sure whether that would be a correct conclusion. I am going to perform a bigger test than just 50 items over a weekend with sales. Can anyone with experience with this situation weigh in on the situation. I would think that snapshots and time date stamps in physical inventory counts also with time date stamps on sales all the components are there that the software should be able to negate items that have been sold after and before the physical count to calculate a true variance.

Thanks for the reply. We are still struggling to get the report correct for the variance report. Our filters are REF#, AND Qty Counted to Date <>0, AND NOT Delta Percent =0. With this we are trying to show only items that are incorrect from what the computer expects. Random test show we are correct. But we have 8 stores and the 1st round of inventory the filter didnt show anything we didnt scan so those items were unchanged. I think this latest one might be correct. If anyone has anything to suggest would greatly be appreciated. Thanks

Yes, our experience has demonstrated the qty sold will be effectively removed from the final count you enter.  However, the timing of the sale, ie. before you actually did the count or after you did the count can not be controlled by the software.  It only knows when the Physical was counted, and when you type in the count, and hit the Calculate button.
