Good day, My version is Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0 Business Solution = Business Edition I have 1 company created but it is needed to create a new company, which i have already created the problem is that they want to use the same financial accounts. I tried import an old database just during the time the information of the financial accounts where input into SQL an it included other unnecessary info.

    Hi

This is how i would go about things, goto smart list >Accounts and click on the star as this will bring up all the accounts that you would need to import in the new company from the old company. Once this is done , export them to excel and save it as a csv file.

You can then use the Integration Manager to import this file to the new company you have created. The issue that you mentioned earlier about not being sure if it would import to the right company is not justified as, in order to use IM, you need to be logged into a company into GP with no windows open. So logon to the company you want to import the accounts to and then use the IM.

If you require further assistance you can email me as i have done it several times and would be able to help you out with this.

You might also look at using the Rapid Implementation tools. I agree with Frank, Integration Manager is your best bet. The GL Master import is very straightforward, there are LOTS of other ways to do it, but Integration Manager would be my choice as well.

As for your Partner, any time you need consulting there is an additional charge, that's their business.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

If the account format is identical in the new company, you can simply copy the GL00100 table from the active database to the new database. This is the account master table. If you already have accounts in the new database, you will need to clear those out first, delete any records from the GL00105 table (in the new database), and then copy the GL00100. Final step is to run checklinks on the account master in the new database, which will create the index table (GL00105).

     Good day Frank,

Don't worry i'll keep on fiddling around, due to the fact that my partner informed me that he will have to charge me a fee for consultation.

     Have a nice day :)

Well, Integration Manager isn't the most intuitive tool in the world - do you have a GP partner that can give you some guidance?  It's too involved to cover in a forum.

Integration Manager requires that you be logged in to the company you want to run the integration on so as long as you're logged in to the correct company, it won't affect your other companies' databases.

I have the integration  manager but i'm not familiar with it.I'm currently reading the User Guide in reference to your reply.

But i'm worried that if i process the integration manager that will affect company "A" which we are currently using. It's live

Thanks Mayra.  So what kind of additional info do you need?  Are you familiar with Integration Manager and/or do you have it available?  That would be the first and best choice of tools to do the import.

     Good day Frank,

It's a gran total of 2536 but the issue is that we already have the accounts in company "A" but we also want those accounts in company "B".

Thank you very much in advance for your help.

There are at least 3 ways to import the accounts, listed in order of my personal preference -

    1.  Integration Manager

    2.  Table Import

    3.  Mail Merge macro

How many accounts are you talking about?
