Retained Earnings - Multiple Sub-Accounts

By default when closing the year end, Solomon always creates a separate retained earnings entry for each sub-account combination.  I know this is inherent in the Solomon design, but I have a client that would prefer the entry to go to a single account.

Is there anything I can do to force the entry into a single account?

As a work around I've seen client's reclass the RE's to a single sub-account after year end.

Any other suggestions or thoughts?  Perhaps a keychange of RE account/sub combinations after year end?

I am open to suggestions.  Look forward to a response.

For what it's worth, my opinion is that reclassing with a journal entry is the best way to go. It maintains a consistent trail for auditors to follow.
