BC SaaS Upgrade to 22.0 fails - FirstPartyUpgradeLogic

Posted on by 54

I am trying to update my Sandbox and, ultimately, Production to 2023 Wave 1 (V22.0), but any attempt to do so results in this error.

I have removed all extensions from Sandbox. We didn't upgrade migrate from on-premise, so Cloud Migration isn't enabled (I read that was a problem a few versions ago).

Any ideas what I can do or try? Thanks.

    Fabulous Zhu, many thanks.

I've seen several people on Twitter have the problem, and for some they did eventually manage to upgrade.

I don't think I ever tried updating again within an hour, but as it's postponed now I will wait and see if the problem is solved.

Thanks for the info about restarting an environment - I thought that was an On-Prem feature only, and wouldn't have found it in Sessions by myself!

    Thanks, Tristan

    Hi, just adding some info.

Microsoft postponed the update again yesterday, which may be related to this problem.

There are also users in the same situation as you on Linkedin.

PS: Regarding restarting the environment, please refer to the link below, but I don't think it has anything to do with this problem.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks.

RE: BC SaaS Upgrade to 22.0 fails - FirstPartyUpgradeLogic

We are currently using 21.5.53619.53813 online, with the upgrade to 22.0.54157.54644 available.

    1. I'm not sure if release notes and system requirements are entirely applicable. I'm sure Microsoft ensure their Azure (?) Servers are capable of running their own updates. I wrote SaaS in the topic header.

    2. How does one restart an environment in the Business Central Admin Centre?

    3. I can't contact Microsoft directly, so as well as trying my 'Partner' (whom did the implementation and arrange our tenant licences, but that's about it) I thought on here might be a good idea.

    4. How does one do that in the Admin Centre? I can only choose to update to the available version, but I can't 'downgrade'.

    5. I have removed all non-Microsoft extensions from the Sandbox, and it didn't help. I am loathed to try that on Production at the moment because, well, it's Production.

I've shown you the specific error message. Are you a ChatGPT (CoPilot) bot? I don't think it's possible to write a less helpful reply.

    -------

Many thanks to Inge and Zhu. I'll check out Yammer, and combine that with being patient. I tried on Friday eve, Saturday several times, Sunday several times and on Monday, with variations of the extensions and security groups in Sandbox, to no avail. I don't THINK it's something at my end, but I can't be sure.

It sounds like you are encountering an error when trying to update your Sandbox and Production to the 2023 Wave 1 release of your software. Without knowing the specific software or platform you are using, it's difficult to provide a precise solution, but here are a few general suggestions you could try:

    1. Check the release notes and system requirements for the new version of the software to ensure that your system meets all the necessary prerequisites for the update.

    2. If you haven't already done so, try restarting your Sandbox and Production environments to ensure that any pending updates or changes have been fully applied.

    3. Contact the support team for your software or platform to report the error and ask for assistance. They may have encountered similar issues with other customers and be able to provide guidance on how to resolve the issue.

    4. If possible, try updating to a previous version of the software first, and then attempt the update to the 2023 Wave 1 release again. This may help to isolate the cause of the error and allow you to troubleshoot the issue more effectively.

    5. If you are using a third-party extension or customization, it's possible that the error is related to this. You may need to remove or update the extension before attempting the update again.

Ultimately, the best course of action will depend on the specific error message you are encountering and the software or platform you are using. Contacting the support team for your software or platform is likely the best option for resolving the issue

    Hi, just adding some info.

I also saw this problem in MS Yammer a few days ago. It seems to be a Microsoft problem, but it does not happen in all environments.

This looks like it might be an issue on Micrososoft's side. I think I would wait to see if you hear anything from Microsoft around it.

If not you can try to reschedule a new upgrade again tomorrow.

If that fails - you can contact your CSP partner and have them open a support case with Microsoft around it.
