Hi All ,

As we all know that in AX can book the customer invoice from the Sales order ( Stocked item / Non stocked item ) and Free text invoice .

My question is Instead of using the Free text invoice why do not we use the General journal to book the invoice ?

( As we are creating the AP invoice journal for Vendor )

What is your suggestions ?

    Hi Lally,

This is possible. You can create a journal called 'Customer Invoice' and use the general journal to enter and post the invoices.

At some customers in the past we created a new Journal type 'Customer invoice' to have a journal available in the Accounts Receivable menu and to default the account type and have some fields directly available on the grid (e.g. field Invoice).

You can even enter the invoices then using multiple lines like the vendor invoice journal to specify multiple revenue accounts and/or dimensions.

Using this method is very suitable if you have to post invoices already created manually or by another system as the field Invoice has to contain the invoice number. If this field is not filled, AX will assume it is not an invoice or credit note. The voucher will differ from the Invoice or you must link a voucher number and Invoice within some new customized business logic.

The sales order invoice and free text invoice will always retrieve a new Invoice nuber generated by a number sequence.
