ReportReport
Posted on by 12

Dear All,

I am in process of setting up Workflow Setup for Sharepoint and wanted to know what is location to be given for Microsoft Dynamics Workflow Location as well as SharePoint Location on the Workflow Setup for Sharepoint window. Following is my question

Microsoft Dynamics Workflow Location : http://<ServerName>/_vti_bin/WorkflowService.asmx ( do I have to do any other installation)

SharePoint Location : Can I use the URL which is used in Report Server URL under Tools-Setup-System-Reporting Tools Setup.

I am on Dynamics GP 2013 R2

    Hi Babu,

With R2, Workflows are built into the core code, well it's the first phase of roll-outs for workflows with a more robust catalog of workflows in 2015. Are you still wanting to stick to workflows in sharepoint 2010?

    Hi Tom,

Thanks for your reply.  Yes we wont be upgrading to 2015 so I wanted to setup workflow on GP 2013 R2.  Can anyone please confirm how to setup Dynamics Workflow Location and SharePoint location.  I need this in order to test the approving workflow from email.

Babu, did you ever get a response to this?

I am trying to implement GP2015 on a personal VM - and I get to turning on the Workflow and the same questions are asked, but I have no answer, since there is not a place to install Workflow (as a module) in GP2015 that I have found.

    Talk soon.

Bill, Workflow in GP 2013 R2 and GP 2015 installs by default.  There is no 'module' per se.   Babu, the Workflow engine in GP 2013 R2 and GP 2015 doesn't rely on SharePoint.  it uses native GP code.

Once I got past the 'I know better than the manual' and did not try to install something that was not needed - all is well and I am now working on setting up my workflow in test.

    Thanks for the great advice.

Hi Bill, I was able to setup workflow and its work fine.  The one I havent checked is setting up sharepoint, which will be used to do approval without login to GP.  Frank, will sharepoint foundation is enough to work on this functionality.

Babu, if you are going to run GP2013 R2 or GP2015 there is no SharePoint

All the approvals are done either in Web Client, GP Desktop or as I am trying to figure out now, via Email Approval.

Frank, set us right on this please.

You are correct Bill.  No SharePoint involved whatsoever for GP 2013 R2 and GP 2015 workflow.  Native GP workflow provides the email functionality for approvals from non-GP users.

    Hi Frank,

So just to be sure email functionality is only for sending email for the manager to notify to get it approval and user who will get once its approved.  And approval can be done only by login to GP.  Also can you please confirm light users is enough to login to GP for both approval and put requisition.  Since the business portal there is no limit on users but GP extra license required in order to  users login and make request.
