Business central On premise licensing. Additional objects.

I want to confirm if my understanding on new licensing model is correct:

In NAV 2018, we could purchase Starter Pack for 3750€ and get:

- 3 Full users

- 10 tables

- 10 Codeunits

- 100 Pages

- 100 reports

- 100 XML ports

- 100 Querys

Now in order to purchase an equivalent Business Central On-Prem I need to purchase:

- 3 Essential Users x 1500€ = 4500 €

- Codeunits 600€

- Pages 600€

- Tables 600€

- XMLPorts 600€

- Reports 600€

Total Business central on-p`remise cost = 7500 €

So what in NAV 2018 was 3750€, its double the price, 7500€ in Business Central on-premise?

I have been experimenting with on prem v20 license in regard to our own extensions. I have not found the definative answer to the way the included object rage works so can only advise what I found.

    The base customer license includes

    Object Type Purchased Assigned Change
    Codeunit 10 0 Change
    Page 100 0 Change
    Query 100 0 Change
    Report 100 0 Change
    TableData 10 0 Change
    XMLPort 100 1 Change

When we develop an extension we use 50000 for the codeunit and up to a max of 10 code units. As long as the object id is in the range 50000-50009 it is happy. This is without performing any changes to the license using "manage customer area object". Any object used out of this range causes an issue. I therefore deduce that the 50000-50009 range is pre assigned and available to use. Just because the license included 10 codeunit objects does not allow us to use 1 out of this range. I also tried to allocate using "manage customer area object" a codeunit object of 50100. This was accepted in partnersource but did not appear in the subsequent downloaded license detailed report.

Note this is all done with BC v20 on prem.

I suspect if I purchased additional codeunit licenses then I could use the "manage customer area object" to allocate the object using 50100. I have not tested this.

I did try to alter the read insert delete etc using the "manage customer area object" of 50000 but again this did not change anything in the downloaded details report. I suspect if I have a paid for additional range this would probably take effect.

I got the latest license for Business Central 20. My extension is working fine. pages are ok. in the case of tables, it is not allowing to access the tables after 50009. It means it is taking only 10 tables (50000 to 50009). I think there is a license configuration mistake. Maybe we have to delete or disable legacy users and create a new set of users. I am on the job now. let me know if you have any idea how to configure the license for the custom table objects.

    warm Regards

The thing is that NAV 2018's Stater pack was not a promotion. Starter pack is the minimum puirchase you can do for NAV 2018. That includes 3 FULL users plus all the additional objects mentioned for a very reasonable price; so it's a very good entry point for startup projects. Now, unless my understanding is wrong, you need to pay double the price in order to get something equivalent.

Objects are free in the SaaS world. For the on-premise licensing is the same as NAV (you pay for additional objects if you don't have addons). I'm not updated on promotions like Starter Pack or similar (licensing is not my world).

Objects are free of charge in BC. No need to buy pages, tables, etc.
