Modifier not enable in Report Writer, but OK in GP form

I am new to Modifier. I have entered the valid GP license key which enable the Modifier. The problem is, the Modifier is not allowed to be used in Report Writer (see the first link), but the Modifier can be selected in GP (see second attachement). Please advise what have I missed to activate the Modifier for Report Writer.

When I try to run the "Visual Basic Editor" under any modified report, it will prompt warning message: You do not have sufficient privileges on this system to modify the VBA Project.

Even if I run GP with Local Administrator Right. Please advise, many thanks in advance.

    You will need to:

    1. Modify the following registry keys:
    • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Clsid
    • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Typelib
    • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\CLSID
      • Log on as an administrator.
      • Start Registry Editor. To do this, click Start, click Run, type regedt32.exe, and then click OK.
      • Locate the following registry key:
        HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Clsid
      • On the Security menu, click Permissions.

Note The Registry Key Permissions window appears.
      • Click Add, add the users or the groups, and then click to select the Full Control check box to specify the type of access.
      • Click OK to close the Registry Key Permissions window.
      • Repeat steps 3 through 6 for the remaining registry keys.
      • Exit Registry Editor.

Note When you exit Registry Editor, the other users for whom you changed permissions can register type libraries, Component Object Model (COM) objects, and other objects.
    1. Give users full access to Microsoft Dynamics GP folder

No, no extra licenses are needed. If you are already licensed for Modifier, that's it!

Take a look at the following articles to help you out:

Thank you so much to Leslie and Mariano.

BTW, if I managed to do VBA programming for a modified report, i would like to know whether need to pay extra fee/license for VBA code use in the Modified report ? It is the same way, by importing the Package on other workstation, the VBA codes goes together with the package ?

    Many thanks in advance.

    Modifier = modified windows

    Report Writer = modified/custom reports

    Modifier <> Report Writer.

You can use VBA with both Modifier and Report Writer.

    Hi William,

Modifier is only for changing windows, so it shouldn't be available in Report Writer. In order to access VBA in Report Writer you need to have first added the report to VB. Under the Tools menu when you have a report layout open you should see the 'Add to Visual Basic' option. Once you add the report to VB, you should be able to open the VB Editor. You need to make sure you have added any necessary fields too.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie
