Price List Items - Updating the amount of the products

Hello,

I have existing products with amounts in a price list item that needs to be updated with a new amount.

Sample-Data.png

I exported the entire price list item products to Excel, updated the amount, and then imported it again. However, during the import all the records failed because of the duplicates and the lookup reference error since I already have those products available in the module with an old amount.

CSV and XLSX standard imports did not work. We cannot use excel online since the order of the product does not match the sheet that we prepared.

What is the workaround to make it work with the standard import features? rather than using a workflow or custom code, I believe it can be done by using standard imports.

Could you please advise and provide an example of how it can be done with standard import?

Any help is highly appreciated.

Best regards,

EBMRay

    Hi EBMRay,

The exported excel has 3 hidden columns that allow for re-import of these records possible.

1st column contains the GUID of the record, the second contains the Row Checksum which it uses to make sure to update only those records or rows which are changed, and the 3rd column is Modified On which it uses to track if the record has been modified since it was exported.

    Hello ,

Nope, I created my own CSV file with the columns needed. The creation of the records works perfectly using CSV.

The update operation using CSV is not working I think this is because of missing the column and the GUID numbers of the records in the files.

    Thank you!

    Hi EBMRay,

Is a csv file converted from a downloaded static excel file?

When you export the Data through excel, it carries the Guid of the record that matches when you re-import back to CRM for update. Please use the same excel and modify your changes and import back.

If you want to create new records then you can opt for use csv.

RE: Price List Items - Updating the amount of the products

    Hello ,

    Thank you for your reply.

Exactly that was the issue and since I have some products with the same name I have used instead the ProductID which is unique in the products table.

Updating the amount of the products didn't work using CSV import so I tried to export the data as a static worksheet from the grid as XLSX file->updating the amount->importing the xlsx file using the standard import.

The above worked perfectly with me and the trick was the XLSX file generated from the static worksheet but I still don't understand why CSV didn't work knowing that I configured the right mapping.

    Best regards,

    Hi EBMRay,

Not because these Products already exist with an old amount, but because of the existence of multiple Products with the same name, the system will not know which lookup reference to resolve to and hence the error message.

While we are importing data into Dynamics 365 CE with lookup field, Dynamics tries to relate lookup records based on the primary field name by default.

The fix for it is very simple, we need to find out one value which is unique.
