Is possible to bypass/remove the automatic Unit of Measure conversion? (Dual UOM / Catch Weights?)

Hello,

I am currently trying to set up Business Central for Warehouse Management. An issue I have come up with regards change of units of measure when Receiving / Putting Away items.

Specifically, I am having issues with the mandatory unit conversion the system uses.

I am dealing with the following two potential issues:

One product is received in cartons each weighing a different amount. I need to record both the amount of cartons (Unit) and the weight (kg) in each carton. However, BC automatically converts from one unit to the other. I have considered using rounding to deal with it but it doesn't work because situations arise where there are major discrepancies, up to 50-60% of the standard weight.
Another product, is received in cartons but stored in pallets containing, e.g. about 50 cartons each. To do that, I can make my receipt in cartons (Unit), and then record my put away lines as Take 50 cartons, place 1 pallet (Unit). The issue is that the pallets can also often have discrepancies in the amount of cartons, instead of 50 store e.g. 48 or 52. Further to this, if, say, 70 cartons arrive, then I will end up with a pallet of 50 cartons and one of 20. For this reason, rounding also does not work.

The ideal solution, then, would be to be allowed to ignore the conversion and instead enter the units manually. I could also use that to confirm the lack of discrepancies, by checking that the total base unit stored matches the total base unit received, independent of the number of pallets or weight.

Is there a way to set BC up to not calculate a conversion between two units?

EDIT: As far as I can tell, this function is called Dual Units of Measure or Catch Weights?

Thank you.

If the quantity on pallets/cartons are not the same, it shouldn't be used as standardized measure. I would advice to use the KG for first example and Cartons in the 2nd example as the registered quantity.
To record the cartons(units) for 1st example or pallets for 2nd example, I would say You need to add a new field to the needed places (purchase order lines? / other inventory documents) to just register the other unit of measure for Your internal reference.

as mentioned by other expert, BC always auto convert UOMs as set up on item card. Out of box, you are advised to use kg to accurately track your inventory. As a workaround, you could set up box and pallet as dimensions, use the dimension values to record the qty of box or pallet. This is not the most elegant method, but might help you.
