ecommerce in NAV ?

I don’t have a picture of how the ecommerce part is solved in NAV and would like to know if a third party program must be installed? Or is it included in the program? Does anyone have any overall experience? I would appreciate to talk directly as well.

We have a ISV solution that provides complete eCommerce functionality for Microsoft Dynamics NAV(Navision).

Dynamics E-Shop is a fully integrated e-commerce solution for Microsoft Dynamics NAV (Navision). E-Shop offers an out-of-the box web store which directly interacts with Dynamics NAV (real time using web services).

E-shop is specially designed to leverage rich functionality provided by Dynamics NAV. Key elements such as Items, category, customers, customer specific pricing, discounts and any specific business logic are created and maintained in NAV. E-shop utilizes NAV webservices and latest technologies to communicate with ERP to pull these information real-time over the web to display accurate information to your consumers (B2C), business customers (B2B) and your Sales person.  E-Shop creates order real time without need to sync.

You can checkout more at www.dynamicseshop.com or contact us at sales@dynamicseshop.com

Let me express my opinion on this.

There is no out-of-the-box e-commerce for NAV from MS if you're talking about a webshop-kind-of-thing. The reason being (in my understanding) that it falls into vertical product category, i.e. cannot be even theoretically just installed and launched without significant adaptation work involved to match your specific needs - from industry specifics and business logic to your corporate looks, integration with existing web infrastructure etc.

    You have 2 options:

    1) First, ask your Dynamics partner if they have something that can be used as a reasonable starting point. More serious ones do have at least something. Or probably they can offer a proven ISV solution that they have actually worked with and seen succeeding.

    2) If that doesn't work out, you should be looking for an ISV solution (NAV add-on) yourself. There are quite many of them out in the market, but be sure to find the one that matches your envisioned result, and always choose a proven solution with solid customer base over "it's easy, we can do it for you" approach. By all means find out the prospective path of implementation - if done by your Dynamics partner, ensure they get quality training with the particular solution, or if done by the ISV - be prepared to handle issues arising from 2 different suppliers working on your system.

In fact, creating some kind of e-commerce is something most partners should be able to do, but from my experience, getting it right (licencing requirements, technology choices, performance, stability) takes years of try-fails.

As a rule of thumb, most Dynamics resellers do not have quality web development skills, and web developers usually know nothing about NAV concepts. It's two different worlds, and making a good e-commerce for NAV is the challenge of having them fuse together in a good product.

Sounds hard (and it is), but yes, once it's well done - it's just great value for any contemporary business.

Sana Commerce is the product you are looking for. Sana is a trully integrated e-commerce platform for NAV, which uses the business logic of NAV (real-time) and adds first class web content management. As a company, we are complementary to your reseller, and leave him the option to either do the implementation themselves, or that we do it. The first case is only possible for Certified Sana Implementation Partners (like e.g. ArcherPoint). Sana can only be obtained through Dynamics resellers, who we support thoroughly, for instance with an online community.

We combine over 20 years of e-commerce experience with the power of Dynamics NAV. Our product can be installed in 7 days, can be styled without technical knowledge. Furthermore, we can provide e-commerce support on e.g. online payments, search engine optimization, concept & design, conversion optimization and hosting.

As a company, we are Gold certified on web developement, Silver on ERP. Our Sana Commerce product is Certified for Microsoft Dynamics (CfMD).

Look at our YouTube channel at [View:http://www.youtube.com/sanasoftware] or at our web site at http://www.sana-software.com.

NAV can integrate well with Magento and aspdotnetstorefont. Our company actually provides connectors to help integrate NAV with these systems, but if you're looking for other solutions like the ones mentioned above, we're not 100% on the integration possibilities.

Feel free to learn more about our NAV integration solution on our site: www.nchannel.com/connect-microsoft-dynamics-nav

    Thanks and best of luck.
