Outlook crash after add attachment, track email and choose Dynamics 365 Fields

Using Outlook 2016, Dynamics 365 add-in for Outlook and Dynamics 365 on-premise.

Seems to be a return to an old issue from a few years ago where when I create a new email in Outlook, choose to track it and then click on the Dynamics 365 Fields button in the new email Outlook crashes.

Happens for all users in a RDS environment and on standalone workstations.

Have tried all the old tricks - cached Exchange mode, deleting temporary files, disabling all other add-ins ...

Tracing and Windows error logs of no assistance.

Anyone else seen a return of this nasty? More importantly, anyone know how to resolve?

All assistance greatly appreciated.

Reached out to Microsoft in regards this and they came back to me with the below. I can confirm this workaround worked.

This is not a CRM issue, but a known Outlook 2016 issue refer below findings.

    https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/a35065e3-89b9-4aa2-aaad-9cb02943f7a9/outlook-2016-crash-when-i-add-new-attachment-and-click-on-a-region?forum=outlookdev

    The workaround would be

    1. Instead of using “Attach File” button,  using drag and drop to add attachment.

    2. If you already clicked “Attach File” button, before try to get to CRM fields page, save and close the email. Then reopen the mail from Drafts folder.
