Retail POS Topology (Online/Offline Setup)

Hi All,

Can you please help on Retail Topology.

I have installed Async Server, Async Client and MPOS in one server, Now i want to install it in personal laptop (Assume client machine). 

Do i need to install all the clients (AX client, Async client, POS client) in this machine. Or any other pre-requisites to install and which version of windows will support.?

Please share with me any one having the related blog/Doc.

    Hi Kiran,

    It is not compulsory  to install Async client and AX client  on retail machine. You can install only MPOS in laptop.  But Async Client tool must be in one of computer in store side. Please check below topology for MPOS

    Can you mention in detail about your expectation. So that we can help you out exactly.

    1) You want to install everything in your Laptop?

    2) You want to install AX client and MPOS in your Laptop?

    3) You want to install only MPOS in your Laptop?

    If you give us more information then it will be easier to explain.

    Hi Sridharan,

    I want to install only MPOS in my Laptop.
    Will it work without Async client, Retail Server.?

    1) If only MPOS will work on Laptop, how should we configure it, and what are the Pre-Requisites.?

    2) Async server we have installed in one server (Assume it HQ), now we want install POS in client end (Assume store), should we install all the clients here (Async client and POS)

    Please suggest.

    Hi,

    Hope your Laptop and server is reachable (I mean they are in LAN or connected somehow)

    If this is the case then you can install all components in Server to keep it simple. But this shouldn't be the case of product environment.

    In your case,

    Install following components in Server machine and make sure that it is connecting with each other properly.

    1) Async Server

    2) Retail Server

    3) Async Client

    4) Real Time Service

    5) All AX server and client related components including AX database

    Install following components in Laptop and activate.

    1) Retail MPOS (It can be install through Installer or PowerShell script). Better install it through installer first time

    2) If you have SQL Express or SQL in your Laptop then create a Channel database in Laptop if not then you have to create Channel database in Server machine itself. But try to create a Channel database where  Async client is installed.

    3) Activate the MPOS by using Retail Server URL after successful data replication between AX and Channel database.

    Hi,

    Can anyone help me with my concern? I'm trying to run the Retail POS in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 with error notification "

    Error number: 1 The application could not be initialized.

    Error number: 2 A system error has occured. The application will close.".

    What setup did I missed?

    I've installed all the components on my laptop.
