I would like to open a discussion about the future of on premise version of Dynamics 365.
There are still organizations that won't migrate to a cloud in the near future.
The road map of Microsoft about on premise is unclear.
What would you do if you had implementation of systems based on old version of CRM, like 2011 ? Will be it the right decision to choose alternative technology/platform to migrate old systems in organization instead of upgrading to the latest version of dynamics 365 (9.1) ?
The Opinion of the community will be appreciated.
Hi,
It is suggested to go for Online version as Microsoft is developing all new features for Online version. Thank you.
Best Regards,
Mobeen
Hello Mobeen,
Thanks for your suggestion.
We wonder if it will be the right decision to start a new project developing on onpremise version, when as you mentioned, Microsoft focuses on fixing critical and performances issues only?
We wonder if Microsoft will continue develop onpremise versions. As it can be seen from lifecycle policy, the only fact is known that the end of support date of current (9.1) version is 13 January 2026.

Hi,
Microsoft is still releasing on-premises updates which only contains fix for critical and performances issues, please find the link for latest updates at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/microsoft-dynamics-365-on-premises-cumulative-updates-ed51f905-cf4e-3641-dc7c-afe2b868eeb9. If you are planning to go for on-premises, we will suggest you to use the latest version version 9.1 otherwise Dynamics 365 Online is version for new features and enhancements and Dynamics 365 Online is the version Microsoft is more focusing right now and lot of new features only available for online version. Thank you.
Best Regards,
Mobeen Mohsin
